IN TRANSIT

In Transit is an inclusive art project/exhibition  organised by Perthshire Visual Arts Forum . This year’s PVAF  theme  ‘There to Here’ poses the questions of where  we all live, where art happens and how  we bridge the gaps and  creatively connect with each other.

The Project is open to all career oriented artists who attend or who are connected – or would like to become connected - with  PVAF  events.

Exhibition date  8th – 28th October
  Birnam Art Centre    Birnam  Perthshire

The exhibition  will become part of an extended art work trail linked to  the 2008 Perthshire Visual Arts Forum on 18th & 19th October

THE PROJECT

YOU
send us your name and postal address by email to  ceri@pvaf.org.uk

WE
send you a tie on label and short application form by post

YOU
Create a work in any  medium size or shape  which investigates or responds to  the concept of connection, of travel, journey, of physically or mentally  bridging gaps and opening lines of connection .
This work must be attached to the label .
You can do anything you like with the label so long as your name remains visible.

Your work should be returned to us in a sturdy  padded envelope or container of any size or style. The package will become part of the exhibition  exposing the means of travel.

The package MUST reach the address given below between 1st and 28th  September .
Items can be hand delivered to Birnam Institute  ONLY on  Sunday 21st September between 12 and 4pm ( Items should not be taken to Birnam at any other time as there are no storage facilities)

WE
will exhibit these works complete with label showing your name. and the bag it arrived in.
The works will be hung from the string so that viewers can handle or view the works from all sides ( where this is appropriate). Plinths and  glass cabinets will also be used where appropriate.

We make no limitation on size , but you have to get it to us by post unless you can deliver in person. Heavy works might need to be shown on plinths or floor .

This is a great  opportunity to make a NEW WORK that engages with the brief. Be creative -  think outside the box - use your own medium or try something new. Have fun.

RETURN OF WORK

Works will need to be collected, if possible on the take down date of 29th October OR posted back to you.. If you wish the work to be posted we will need you to enclose return stamps and  a self addressed  sticker  so that we can re-use your original packaging.
