PVAF Forum 2011
This years forum included one day of inspirational
talks at Birnam Arts Centre and a day out and
about exploring art in Perthshire.
Our three keynote speakers on Saturday were
Angus Farquhar talking about
his major landscape performance
projects - textile artist Pauline Burbridge and
sculptor Charles Poulsen speaking about their
work and how they make a career from a rural borders
location and Francis Law who was
shortlisted for this year's Aspect prize talking about
the impact on her work of the competition.
Another great PVAF members exhibition 'Natural
Connections' was opened by Lys Hansen.
Two other exhibitions also exhibtited at the forum.
The travelling gallery showed work by
Charlie Hammond and Jonathan Owen and Pat Law's
Horsebox gallery showed the exhibition 'Utopia'.
In the afternoon session five artists groups from
around Scotland spoke about how they make
things happen where they are.
On Sunday glass artist, Louise Tait gave a talk at
Perth Museum & Art Gallery followed by a tour of the
Glass exhibition there. Another tour this time of
Horsecross was led by Iliyana Nedkova. The day
ended with a visit to Heartwood, an artists-led site
specific exhibition in a Perthshire woodland.
