PVAF Forum 2011

This years forum included one day of inspirational talks at Birnam Arts Centre and a day out and about exploring art in Perthshire. Our three keynote speakers on Saturday were Angus Farquhar talking about his major landscape performance projects - textile artist Pauline Burbridge and sculptor Charles Poulsen speaking about their work and how they make a career from a rural borders location and Francis Law who was shortlisted for this year's Aspect prize talking about the impact on her work of the competition.

Another great PVAF members exhibition 'Natural Connections' was opened by Lys Hansen. Two other exhibitions also exhibtited at the forum. The travelling gallery showed work by Charlie Hammond and Jonathan Owen and Pat Law's Horsebox gallery showed the exhibition 'Utopia'. In the afternoon session five artists groups from around Scotland spoke about how they make things happen where they are.

On Sunday glass artist, Louise Tait gave a talk at Perth Museum & Art Gallery followed by a tour of the Glass exhibition there. Another tour this time of Horsecross was led by Iliyana Nedkova. The day ended with a visit to Heartwood, an artists-led site specific exhibition in a Perthshire woodland.
