Perth and Kinross Council Artists' Award 2008-2009

Perth and Kinross Council are committed to supporting and celebrating the work of professional artists living and working in the region. This award is aimed at enabling artists to promote and develop their work in ways which they may find difficult without grant funding.

The areas of work supported by this fund are:
  • Costs of exhibiting - framing, packing, hiring a space for exhibition etc
  • Printing a publication which is linked to distribution plans or targeting a specific audience
  • Research and development costs for creating new work e.g. costs associated with exploring new ways of working, hiring equipment or production costs for work on a new scale
Who can apply
Applicants must be:
  • living or working within Perth and Kinross
  • not in full-time education
  • able to demonstrate a sustained commitment to their work
  • any age
  • working in any range of media, excluding work which would be supported by the Crafts Scotland funds from the Scottish Arts Council

Particular attention will be paid to applicants who have recently returned to the region after completing a professional course of study.

Criteria

The quality of the artist's work is of the utmost importance. Successful applications will show that the artist has a sustained commitment to their art form and has a body of work produced independently of formal education.
When the panel assesses each application it will consider the following criteria:

  • Artistic Excellence
  • Innovation
  • Impact the award will make on the development of work
  • Clarity of thinking and coherence in the development of the artist's work
  • The quality of the information and visuals provided
  • The benefit to arts development and the artistic community in Perth and Kinross
Funds available

Grants are available from £75 to £1000, from an available fund of £3000. The appropriate funding for a project should be outlined rather than the maximum amount available.
The amount awarded will be at the discretion of the awards panel and may be a different amount to that requested.

The next deadline will be Friday 27th February 2009. These deadlines are non negotiable. Applications which are received after 5.00pm on the deadline date will not be considered.
