The aim of PVAF is to network local artists with each other and with those from other parts of
Scotland and other countries; to create a level of inspiration to artists many of whom work in isolated rural places.
Remix was started to offer these artists an opportunity to come together creatively by making
small works of art that can be hung and transported easily and without funding. The fact that
artists are still asking to join the project and that new exhibition opportunities are being found
indicates the success of this event.
There is no selection process because the purpose of this exhibition is to unite artists rather than
reject them. The work stands as a testament to the energy and creativity of a growing international
network of artists, many of whom live remotely, who can engage with each other simply, creatively and
without an overload of funding and bureaucracy.
Remix has been shown in Lithuania at the Kaire-Desine gallery in Vilnius, and at Birnam Art Centre
Perthshire. Remix went to China as part of Perth and Kinross Council's presentation at the Baishi
festival at the Xiantan University's Baishi Institute. Two further venues, in Perth and in Germany are currently under discussion.
Four artists went to Lithuania with Remix, Christine Goodman, Scott Hudson, Sandra Baxter and Su Grierson.
Shona Leitch, Claire Harkess and Kirsty Duncan went to China as part of the PKC deputation attending the Baishi Festival.
